Calvary Chapel Ft. Lauderdale OE Takeover

CCFL32

This past weekend, Ocean’s Edge School got to lead worship in Calvary Chapel Ft. Lauderdale’s main sanctuary Saturday night and Sunday morning. We have been in preparation for The Show these past few weeks, so we picked songs from that setlist. We did different arrangements of those songs, but it was nice to not have to worry about learning completely different songs. We also got to focus on just rehearsing and practicing because we finally finished our classes! It has been so enjoyable to just play music and not worry about anything else.

I was picked to be one of the guitarist for the takeover weekend, which is awesome. It was a huge privilege and I really appreciated the opportunity. To be honest though, I found playing in the sanctuary to be very stressful. I become timid when the cameras are in front of me and I end up thinking about what I look like rather than worshipping like I normally do. I felt really constricted for some reason. I am not sure if it was the nervousness from the large congregation, the camera crew, or the fact that every staff member from Ocean’s Edge was watching. Either way, I just wanted to play my parts right and not do anything stupid. It was a good experience though, and I did get more comfortable with each service, but that stressful feeling never went away. In conclusion, I am glad I got to do it and I hope that next time I will be able to be myself and feel more comfortable.

Below is a collage of images taken from the service that was streamed online. You can watch the worship and message online by clicking here!
